When entering this project, I didn’t know where to start, so I went to the oblique strategies cards and one stuck out to me. I don’t remember what it is unfortunately, but it mentioned something about AI. I actually have been thinking a lot about AI and the process of putting human intelligence into an artificial body. I am doing an assignment based on Portal 2 right now. I have always been interested in how, like in Glad0s, the human mind changes or corrupted through the machine. Why are machines having human consciousness so terrifying? For context, I love evil AI. HAL 9000 is scary to me and I love it, but it makes me wonder why? The uncanny valley of something sounding so similar to our own but it’s just not right. We put so much trust into machines but what happens when they start gaining too much power?
I came up with the idea of GEN1s15 as a beginning for a new humanity. When I needed a “human” presence, I used an AI. I took the first chapter of Genesis from the Christian bible and used both the CharNG and n+7 to mix up and glitch the responses. However, when speaking with the AI, I used my own thoughts, but I was barely thinking about what I was writing. I wanted it to seem a little off, but still come off human. There’s the little pieces of glitches spent throughout, or sometimes right in your face. Throughout the project, I learned how to do a text-box and it influenced how I went through and did the “quiz” and I like how it adds an actual human interaction with the fictional AI.
